19th Annual Fast Built Project

For 19 years, Kalamazoo Valley Habitat for Humanity (KVHH) and the Home Builders Association of Greater Kalamazoo (HBAGK) have worked in partnership with a local family to build the annual Fast Built house.  In 2010, the Fast Built Project took a new twist. Volunteer members of the Home Builders Association of Greater Kalamazoo built a portion of the Kalamazoo Regional Public Safety Training Facility on Nazareth Road.  They built four training building within a large pole barn. The buildings will be used by fire and police departments across Kalamazoo County for training.

For the 19th Annual Fast Built Project HBAGK will be going back to collaborating with the Kalamazoo Valley Habitat for Humanity (KVHH) to build a house for an extremely deserving mother. The the house will give her a safe and comfortable place for her to live with her two children. The home buyer has been dedicating lots of her time and energy along side of the HBAGK and KVHH to prepare everything for her home to be built.

The Fast Built Project will take place on Sept. 15th from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sept. 16th from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. off of Virginia Ave. During the 18 hours crews will be on site volunteers will fully build her home. The home will be move in ready after everything full dries in the afternoon of Friday, Sept. 16th.

We are a week and a day away from the project, the home buyer along with other volunteers are helping prepare for the day of the build by painting all the interior doors, staining trim, and painting the window trim. The home buyer has chosen a beautiful chocolate brown for the trim that will go throughout her house.
